Sinterklaas in Playa del Carmen |

Celebration from the Netherlands
With such a strong Dutch community in Playa del Carmen Sinterklaas is always celebrated locally.
In the Netherlands, Saint Nicholas' eve is the primary
occasion for gift-giving, when his reputed birthday is celebrated. In this
case, roles are reversed, though, in that Sinterklaas is the one who gives the
presents. In recent years, Christmas (along with Santa Claus) has
been pushed by shopkeepers as another gift-giving festival, with some success,
although, especially for young children, Saint Nicholas' eve is still much more
important than Christmas.

Om Tulum Hotel Cabanas and Beach
Club
By Susan De Lima
Imagine a tranquil garden, the blue Caribbean Sea and an amazing beach as
far as you can see all in a relaxing, lounge atmosphere. Welcome to Om Tulum Hotel Cabanas and Beach
Club.
It faces the east where the sun greets us
every morning; it is a place of illumination.
The east is known for new beginnings and understanding. Tulum is a place
where people go to relax, reflect and release. From the moment you pass through
the gate and hear the water fall, which is watched over by a serene Buddha, you
know you are in a state of lush tranquility.

Seattle; a sweet reprieve from the heat in Playa del Carmen.
Web Guy and I decided to take a bit of a break and head to the United State, Seattle in particular, to get a break from the heat in Playa del Carmen and visit family and friends. As our trips always go we ended up extending it by a week. We will be
returning to Playa del Carmen next Monday, October 8th. So, we thought we would let everyone know why there hasn’t been much activity on Playa Maya News! We will be back in our office first thing on the morning of the 9th and it will be business as usual.
In the mean time I have received an update from the Consular’s Office in Cozumel so I have included the information below…..
