Carnival fever is rising again as the dates were confirmed for the 2010 event, last week. At the presentation of Carnival King and Queen candidates, organizers said the biggest 4 nights of parades will be from Saturday, February 13th, to Tuesday, February 16th, 2010. The main Carnival events will start on January 23rd, with the reception of the newly elected 2010 King and Queen.

Wild Wind Sport Championship Coming to Cozumel.
The beaches in the north of the island this weekend play host to Viento y Mar Cozumel 2007, a national Mexican windsurfing and kiteboarding competition.
More than 60 riders from across the Republic will take part in the wild wind sports.

Hurricane Dean passed by about 130 miles (210 km) to the south of Cozumel last night, bringing rain and wind to the island but with minimal effects.
Locals in Cozumel estimate that wind speeds were not much higher than 60 miles per hour (100kmh).

Donald Trump to develop in Cozumel?
Despite months of speculation locally that US developer Donald Trump plans a 'mega- development' on Cozumel's east coast, the Trump Organization was silent this week, refusing to respond to enquiries. Local Mexican media claim Trump was invited by Cozumel Mayor, Gustavo Ortega Joaquín, to create a development including some 4,000 hotel rooms, condos, a golf course and landing strip on land that has - until now - been protected for environmental reasons.
