Puerto Morelos fights back with scientific facts.
For the second time in a week the community of Puerto Morelos has rejected the Urban Development Plan proposed by City Hall in Cancun. The original plan presented last week, called for the building of 60,000 homes housing 240,000 people. However, after the community rejected that plan, city officials modified the development plan to 43,000 homes for 174,000 people. This urban development is slated for the western side of the highway, known as the "colonia."
The Three-Legged Bar Hop in Playa del Carmen a Smashing
Success!
Team “Emergency Service” made pretty good time at 31:27, and
although we were no where near the winner’s time of under 17 minutes we raised
a ton of money for the Bomberos! Our total was $3,200.00 USD and with all of
the other teams and sponsors the fundraiser broke records from previous years.
Thank you to everyone that made it possible for us to succeed for such a worthy
cause. The night was a total blast and we had quite the time navigating the
wheelchair through the crazy crowds on 5th Avenue. For a complete
list of sponsors and a great photo gallery please read more below…..
City Park Opening in Playa de Carmen
Our first city park will be opening in Playa del

people, Parque La Ceiba will be the first "Eco-Urban" Park in Playa del Carmen.
Well, it is that time of year when the local fire department (Los Bomberos) has its annual training academy, and with that comes the 3 legged race and bar hop to help raise frunds for the Bomberos. Whether you decide to participate as a team or if you just want
to witness the hilarity of the event please read below for more detials and informaiton.
Turtle
Nesting Season Notes by Alma Boada S.
The 2007 Turtle Nesting Season was a challenge, since Hurricane Dean damaged so
many nests. However, we were able to make sure that 14,118 baby turtles made it
to the sea this year. There were 203 nests and we lost at least 44 to the
hurricane. We thank everyone who helped us with the program.
Please help volunteer for the 5th Annual gift drive for local charity Angel Notion, and the local Fire Department, Los Bomberos.Thousands of children will benefit from your giving! They need a bit of your volunteer time and help at various tree locations in Playa del Carmen.
Fundraiser for Peanut Pet Shelter in Playa del Carrmen
Tuesday, 20 November 2007
On Friday,
November 30th, the Pinche Gringo bar is hosting a fundraising
auction/raffle to benefit the Peanut Pet Shelter located in Playa del Carmen.
As some of you know by now, The Peanut Pet Shelter is a no-kill pet
shelter to rescue stray dogs and cats from the streets, get them
spayed/neutered, vaccinated and healthy, work to re-home the adoptable dogs,
and provide a safe haven for the rest. In the relatively short time the shelter
has existed, they have already made a huge difference in the lives of many
animals that had no other opportunities for a safe, loving home.
Please come on out and enjoy a night of fun and fashion to support local charity, Angel Notion.
This Friday, November 16th starting at 6:00 PM, you can enjoy a fashion show right on the shores the azure Caribbean Sea. What could be better? Enjoy a tropical cocktail
while watching beautiful women dressed to the nines all to benefit local charity Angel Notion, in Playa del Carmen.
Radio marathon event for Angel Notion, this Saturday October 20th, in Playa del Carmen. Come on out and join in or tune into Riviera 98.1 FM!
Come and see some of the children
that the Angel Notion Cardiology Program has helped since its inception in
1999. You too can be part of helping a child to receive life saving open heart
surgery. Each surgery costs $15,000.00 USD and you can help sponsor a child; no
donation is too small, and all donations are tax deductible in the United
States and Mexico.
