La Suegra de John Gray
Location
Information:
SIGNATURE DISHES: Huevos Rancheros or Fried Eggs on crispy tortillas layered with bacon, beans and a tomato sauce; Fish Ceviche; Grilled Pork Chops in “La Suegra’s” special Adobo/Pasilla Chile salsa; Sauteed Shrimp Tacos with a Chipotle Chile Mayonnaise.
SIGNATURE DESSERTS: Homemade Cheesecake with Apple Sauce or Red Berries; Chocolate Chunk Brownies; Banana Bread with Vanilla Ice Cream and Lavender Honey DÉCOR: The small blue and white, thatched-roof beach restaurant, with a hand painted La Suegra de John Gray sign on the screened front door, is located in the sleepy little beach town of Puerto Morelos (in between Cancun and Playa del Carmen). La Suegra offers tourists and locals alike, a perfect family-oriented, Mexican beach restaurant, as it is perched above the sand and just steps from the Caribbean Sea. With a breathtaking view from one of the nine tables on La Suegra de John Gray’s wooden deck, La Suegra does not have to do much else in terms of design, because all the focus is on the ocean view. La Suegra, which features exceptional Mexican/American comfort food, is a true family collaboration between John Gray, his wife Dora and his mother-law Mary Navarro. The dinner menu is written on a blackboard painted on the wooden deck’s exterior wall and is changed every third day. User reviews
