Hi Animal Lovers
Bobby-dog and I were walking on Fifth avenue last Friday night and he found a
dog. She was curled up in a ball, trying to hide in a bit of grass on the side
of the road. I quickly ran Bobby home and came back armed with chicken, water,
a collar and leash. It was dark and all I could tell was that she wouldn't or
couldn't move and had a nasty apple-sized open wound on her hip as well as a
couple of smaller ones on her legs. I couldn't touch her, not even her head. I
didn't know whether she was badly injured or 'just' scared. She ate all of the
chicken and drank tons of water. I thought she had been hit by a car and might
have broken bones. Realizing that I couldn't move her alone, I sent out a text
for help that Christine and Andy answered.
Seriously.....These are the cutest puppies in Playa del Carmen!
Although it is summer in Playa del Carmen spring has sprung and this cute litter of pups are looking for loving homes.
Born on a construction site and cared for by the workers (under the watchful
eye of a fellow animal lover) , they are now old enough to find loving homes.
Since they were raised around people, they are all very social, friendly
and eager to make new friends!
Meet Shredder the coolest puppy on the planet, or at least
in Playa del Carmen.
Although we have named her Shirley Manson, after
the musical group Garbage, Happy Go Lucky for her funny attitude, The Baby for
her puppy status, we think that Shredder fits her best. She runs and shreds around our house; trying
to play with some not to willing kitty participants, bugging our older dogs,
and in general having fun at all times.
Adopt-a-Pet in Playa del Carmen becoming a strong voice for rescued animals.
Adopt-
a-Pet has been part of PMN since it’s inception in 2004. It was part of our
Community Action section which highlighted local non-profits and charities and
aided in free publicity and fundraising. We had always hoped that Adopt-a-Pet
would catch on to a larger group and possibly develop into something more
significant.
In recent months it has done just that. People
from as far as Canada or Belize have contacted us in hopes of aiding in a rescue
of some precious animal.
Adopt-a-Pet does work! Please pass along this information to a fellow animal lover.
Spring has sprung and with that has come many new litters of
puppies all over Playa del Carmen. There are 18 dogs/pups as well as 1 kitty
that are looking for permanent loving homes. If you know of ANYONE who is
looking for a puppy, an adult dog, or a cool cat please pass along all of this
information. When we work together we can make a difference!

ADOPTED!
Brownie the Dog looking to fly to Calgary from Playa del Carmen.
This is a great story! About 8 weeks ago I received an
e-mail from a woman, Jen, from Calgary, Canada. She and
her family had come down to Cancun and Playa
del Carmen for vacation. She was only in Playa del Carmen briefly and fell in
love with a street dog who her nine year old daughter named Brownie. They gave him food, water, and love during their stay. On
the last day they went to look for him to try and figure out how they could get
him back to Calgary.
Unfortunately, he was not in his usual spot down by Pummarola and Coco Beach,
and they had to fly home. They located Playa Maya News, and our Adopt-a Pet section, via an internet search, and that is when she contacted me....
Check out the latest puppy that is looking for a new home.
She was found in the middle of the freeway, and was fortunate enough to have someone stop and scoop her up before she was hurt. She is approximately 5 weeks old, sweet, and looking for love and lots of strokes and praise.
Adopt a Pet 14 Puppies Desperately in Need of Homes
Tuesday, 09 January 2007
ADOPTED!
PUPPY UPDATE!
Only 5 Pups left! So if you are looking to adopt a puppy do it now!
Susie, from Manne’s Biergaten,
recently sent us this information and the situation of these 14 puppies. Originally Susie's neighbors, in Playa de Carmen, had 12 dogs, but 8 were recently
taken by the” dog catchers”, and they left 3 females behind. Two have recently
delivered 2 separate litters which are the 14 pups, and the third is pregnant.
The owners are open to having the females spayed, so we are trying to help with
that, but this still leaves 14 puppies looking for homes. The puppies are not
in a good environment with limited food, no shelter, and prior litters have
died or disappeared.
Adopt this Little Sweetie and She Will Steal Your Heart
Tuesday, 19 December 2006
ADOPTED
This tiny sweetheart can't be much more then 6 weeks old, and she needs a loving family.
We found this little pup by our house in Playa del Carmen. We kept hearing a puppy cry but when we would check outside she was no where to be seen. Finally Web Guy saw her and tried to coax her over, but she was too scared and ran away. But alas we do not give up that easily and left food and water for her outside of our gate....
Darcy the dog had a dad named DJ. They made a great couple; he loved her
and she loved him. They walked together
and worked together. Life was good, and then DJ had a terrible scooter accident and ended up in the hospital for
several months with a head injury. He is now unable to care for Darcy as he
needs to focus solely on his recovery. Now Darcy the dog needs a new home.
