Coxy’s Caribbean Adventures The Caribbean coast is a place of immense beauty and some of the most diverse and colorful fish you will find anywhere in the world. It is truly a fisherman’s heaven. I often make early morning excursions to local hotspots and fish from shore and have had some of the most exciting action I have ever experienced. I have been a long time fisherman in England for about thirty five years and have won many major fishing competitions there. I have also sat as a committee member on one of the most successful clubs in the country. Through this I have gained an abundance of wealth on fish knowledge. As far as I am concerned what makes a top angler is their knowledge, skill and dedication to the sport.
I would like to write a column on a regular basis reporting on local fishing competitions, winning fish and anglers etc, and a local fish report of what fish have been caught, where and what on; by shore or boat with photographic evidence when possible. Ok, back to the fishing, here is a little something to wet your appetite from Coxy’s hall of fame. Just to prove that shore fishing can be as heart stopping, adrenaline pumping, rod bending and arm aching experience as boat fishing here is a photo of a Barracuda that I caught at Puerto Aventuras. It was caught with line bait on a flat rig. This Barracuda topped the scales at 20kilos. As I have only lived in Playa Del Carmen for eight months my local knowledge is limited, most of the knowledge I have obtained from local fishermen I have met along the way, so if there is anyone out there that is fishing crazy like myself I would like to hear from you.
