Discipline, strength, endurance, and the ability to defend yourself are all found when you practice Tae Kwon Do.

Tae Kwon Do is an ancient Korean martial art of self-defense. "Tae"
means to kick or smash with the feet, “Kwon" means fist or to
punch and "Do" means art or way. Therefore Tae Kwon Do is the art of hand and foot fighting.

It is an art primarily concerned with self-defense. Tae Kwon Do
seeks to train the body with optimum speed and accuracy to
effectively defeat any kind of attack.

Tae Kwon Do is a martial art for young and old, men and women. This instructor is a very
impressive and very capable woman Teresa Muñozcano De Fernandez.

Teresa during an examShe has spent 6 years training and now is a "Black Belt First Dan".

Why did she decide to become an instructor? She tells us, “Because I really enjoy the sport, its discipline, the martial art, and using
techniques with self control and mental discipline. My joy is to share it with whoever wants to enjoy it as much as I do”.

Her son is in charge of training students at competition level due to his experience and own training in international competition. Her husband does not practice Tae Kwon Do because his working schedule has never allowed him to, but being involved and
supporting his family in the sport has made him very knowledgeable of it so it has become a family affair.

Teresa and medal winnersTournaments are independently organized by each school. Sometimes they are organized among sister schools, sometimes they invite
other schools from the area. There are also official tournaments organized by the TKD Federation with qualified referees.

The try outs will take place for the whole state of Quintana Roo. Those who are chosen will represent the State in the National competitions in 2005.
