by JP the Editor Last Night, patrons at CABALOVA Sushi and Sports Bar were treated to two unbelievable games that went down to the last minute. Big Crowds watched Georgia Tech defeat Oklahoma State on a last second shot and then watched UCONN’s Emeka Okafor carry his team to shut down Duke in the final 4 minutes to edge out the win setting up the title game on Monday. Connecticut needed a 12-3 run at the end of the game to stage a come-from-behind 79-78 victory over Duke, giving the Huskies a chance to capture their first title since 1999. Georgia Tech led for most of the game but it was left to a Will Bynum lay-up in heavy traffic with 1.5 seconds on the clock to provide the Yellow Jackets with a 67-65 victory over Oklahoma State. Christian Chapouthier, night manager who is originally from Paris France and lives here in Playa with his young family, reports that business for the NCAA tournament is outstanding and each year it gets better and better.
Cabalova was started in 1997 and has 3 owners; Christian, his brother Bruno “You know, we have lots of fun here in Cabalova………..we drink, we eat sushi, we watch sports like NBA, NHL, and the upcoming Champions League from Europe and in July, we get the Olympic Games” Christain excitedly reports.
In addition to Cabalova, the partners start a new adventure with Discovery Jungle Tours which begins business on April 10th and will take tourists and Indiana Jones-esque characters 16 km deep into the jungle to trek and “……….jump from trees like Tarzan” as Christian in his French accent so eloquently puts it. “No matter, I love Playa. Playa is my home. I love my customers so come down and watch the big title game with us on Monday” Tip off is at 8:18pm. Cabalova is open 7 days a week from 11am to 2am and is on 5th Avenue in between 12th and 14th.

Chapouthier, and Charly Wong. With 10 TV’s and every satellite available, not a game is missed. “If we don’t have the game, you don’t want the game” Christian says.
