Playa del Carmen Kwan Mood Do in Cuba

Kwan Moo Do, the multi-faceted martial arts school located in Playa del Carmen, got invited to participate in a training and tournament week in Havana, Cuba.

Four young Tae Kwon Do students, of Playa del Carmen's Martial Arts School, Kwan Moo Do, had the opportunity to experience a training week in Cuba. Maximiliano Duran, Jairy Aké, Irán Aguilar and Melissa Duran travelled this past week to Cuba with their instructor Master Miguel A. Gallardo. Also along for the trip were additional students from Quintana Roo´s Tae Kwon Do selection including Cancún and Chetumal.

During the week they trained in several Tae Kwon Do schools throughout Havana where they were able to practice and work with different Tae Kwon Do students.
At the end of the week, the instructors of Cuban Tae Kwon Do schools organized a tournament  where both countries competed against each other.
The results of both Cuba and Mexico were very satisfactory and the Mexican Taekwondoists achieved several first place ribbons as well as various second place spots.

The adult members of the Tae Kwon Do selection of Quintana Roo trained all week with the national female selection of Cuba instructed by head coach Alexei Pedroso.
The Cuban women were remarkably strong and fast and were competent training partners for the Mexican Taekwondoists, who in the last months had participated successfully in National and Regional Championships in Chiapas and Yucatan.

Also represented and participating  in Cuba, was the Canadian selection of Tae Kwon Do with their head coach Master Young-Su Choung. Professor Miguel Gallardo was very proud of the results of the training week, and the high levels of competence and agility we have aheived in Mexico, specifiaclly in Quintana Roo.
He  emphasizes the importance of such events which strengthen our skills, enrich our learning experience, as well as  create new social relationships between students and instructors from different places and countries in the world.

Next week Miguel, and 25 of his students, leave for a four day trip for the Tae Kwon Do tournament to be held in Villahermosa, Tabasco on April 30th.
He reiterates that after working and training hard these past few months he is very confident of achieving excellent results in this upcoming tournament organized by the Mexican Federation of Tae Kwon Do.
