Canada Kicks Ass - Well, kind of........ Lord Stanley's Cup comes to Playa del Carmen

The Stanley Cup finals were celebrated across Playa del Carmen and especially at the Canada friendly Cabalova Sports and Sushi Bar.

The Calgary Flames fought a galant battle against the talented Lightinng of Tampa Bay to no avail.

The lone Tampa Fan, Chucky was in true form displaying his support for Tampa Bay as he galloped gracously carrying the faux paux cup that was made in honor of the event.

Calgarians were disappointed with the outcome but were gracious in defeat as the beer and fun continued into the night.

“There is always next year right? " said Willie from Regina Saskatchewan and now a Mayan Palace sales executive.

Head at the table were Brian and Sandra McCullagh from Calgary who brought their caps, banners, and attitude to Playa’s most famed sports club in hopes of a Stanley Cup victory.

Instead, it was not to be as Tampa stole the cup under the hot starry skies of Playa.

“Man, it’s hot in here” said Kimberly another native Calgarian who has recently transplanted herself in the land of the Maya. “Go Flames, Go Flames!” screamed a young lady from Vancouver named Debra.

"After the Game 6 two OT victory for the Lighting forcing a Game 7, it was clear that Tampa was not going to quit" said an unamed fan.

“We will be back!" said a Canadian in the crowd.

Cabalova is Playa's premier Sports and Sushi Bar on 5th Avenue. Open all night, every night.
