The Pummarola means “Tomato” in the Napolitano dialect. It is located between the Shangri-La, and the Reef Coco Beach hotels on a dirt track called Flamingo Road which is one block from the beach nested between condominiums. It is a true find. The brick oven Pizza - Pure Napolitano Style, served on an individual board, is a meal in itself..... Beyond the many varieties, the Margarita which is classic, simple and mouth watering, is my favorite.
When you enter Pummarola, you will be personally greeted by Donato-owner, and Giancarlo-Chefwho will make sure that your visit is an enjoyable one. Chosen BEST by the Frugal Gourmet is the Penne del Patrone - a rich creamy meat sauce to take you breath away for a mere 58.00 Pesos! ……….. and I have not yet left the place hungry ... even The Frugal Gourmet likes to splurge! Pummarola, offers a Lobster Pasta, brought to your table by the chef in his impeccable attire, beautifully presented this "Pasta Al Aragosta" will delight your palate and will leave your budget intact. A more than generous portion of clams on a bed of Linguine perfectly "Al Dente". Hats off to you ! Giancarlo! The icing on the cake is that Pummarola has the BEST BREAD South of Hoboken NJ.! Ok... maybe you have to be a New Yorker to appreciate Good Italian Bread! Even Frank Sinatra flew his bread daily in from Hoboken! Frank! Come Fly with Me to the Pummarola and get your bread to take home with you! It is the best. Worth it! Bueno Appetito !
