Check out the new PG's in Playa del Carmen- Now known as the PG's Sandbox Bar and Grill!
The Pinche Gringo originally opened its doors in December of 2006, and
quickly became a local favorite. Opened by two local veteran business owners,
Jimmy Wallace and Jaime Strimpopulos they created a personalized space that
caters to all walks of life from nationals, to local foreigners, to visiting
sports fanatics. Seven different satellite systems including 2 American feeds,
2 Latin American feeds, and a European and Canadian feed, ensures there is a
sport available for everyone. Located just off the beach in an open air setting
with a 25 square meter giant screen along with 4 large flat screens it is a
sports fan paradise whether it is soccer, the NFL, F1 racing, or curling!
Flash forward to November 2008, and Jimmy and Jaime decided to venture onto
new business opportunities and this is where Chris Boehm and Carrie Solberg
come in. Both originally from Calgary, Canada, Chris has been coming to Playa
del Carmen for the past 6 years, but both he and Carrie have been year round
residents since 2006. Chris, with a background in construction and development,
designed and built the building that hosts the bar.
Chris designed the Royal Oasis
above the bar with 12 condos and 6 suites, along with multiple business locales
below; one of which is now called PG's Sandbox Bar and Grill. Although they
have kept the integrity of the original sports bar with the multiple satellites,
live music, and hosting community events, they have made subtle changes that
have added to the atmosphere. They have re-designed the original menu with more
options and goodies for larger groups, and the bathrooms 
received a much needed
face lift where you can now tell a woman is in charge (Thanks Carrie!). The new
Pg's Sandbox Bar and Grill is the perfect spot to catch your favorite sports
event, enjoy a cold afternoon chela, or catch some great local music on the
weekends!
PG's Sandbox Bar and Grill is located on the corner of 1st Avenue
and 26th Street in Playa del Carmen. They are open daily from 8:00
AM until 2:00 AM serving breakfast from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Bar food from
11:00 AM until 10:00 PM, and a full bar from 10:00 AM until 2:00 AM. So stop on
