Description

lasiestasignSorry folks, but due to a construction worker at one of the big resorts we have had major communication problems here in the jungle!

Word on the street is that last week a construction worker from the Barcelo Maya was digging and hit a major line that knocked out the majority of internet and cellular service, and it has been slow coming back. So please be patient with us! We have been using the wireless at Café Corazon to get as much done as we can....thank you Allison.

But we have managed to go out and eat pizza at a local Italian place, and here is the low down....

lasiestafrontLa Siesta is a small Italian place located on First and 14th right next to Phantom Divers in Playa del Carmen. If you don't know it is there it is easy to walk by this unassuming palapa style restaurant. However, little do you know that it has been here in Playa del Carmen for the past 9 years! Originally it was located on the beach where El Paraiso is located now, and they moved to their current location 5 years ago. Italian owned and operated they have incredible wood fired pizza, and homemade pastas that are absolutely terrific. In addition they serve a variety of seafood, paella, fajitas, and arrachera that are all reasonably priced, on average, about 100 pesos per plate. The most expensive thing on the menu is 280 pesos for the lobster paella, which serves two people. The waiter that has always served us is Efrain who has been with the company for the past 4 years. He is efficient and friendly and always remembers "frequent flyers". Beers run 22 pesos, and house wine, and call brand cocktails are 40 pesos. Although I always stick to the pizza and pasta I have to break out of my mold the next time I go and try the paella, or mixed seafood platter, and I am sure I will not be disappointed. La Siesta has been consistently good the handful of times I have eaten there, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. So if you are a fan of Italian food definitely check it out!

lasiestaefrainLa Siesta is open Tuesday through Sunday closed Mondays. Their hours through October are 2:00 PM until 11:00 PM, but will change to 11:00 AM until 11:00 PM in November. They have home delivery and catering services as well. For more information or to order a wood fired pizza call 984-879-3982
