Description
CLOSED Have a Japanese restaurant in Playa del Carmen? Why not? Yes, we actually have a few Japanese restaurants, but this one is new and just seemed to pop up on 30th Ave. It is called Koma Sushi. So being of a curious and usually hungry nature let’s go there for dinner and don’t tell them you are going to review them so that you really see what kind of service and food you get. The food was excellent and the service interesting .................
We started with what else but green tea? Now I am used to tiny cups and a pot left on the table – our waiter arrives with the pot and 2 monstrous mugs – he fills the mugs and leaves with the pot. Interesting. Next was Sushi. It was delicious and fresh. We chose to share a couple dishes after that – the menu as I said was extensive and I could not find one of my favorites “beef teriyaki”; so I asked if they made that. Our waiter’s response was good but interesting again as he said he will go ask. I was joyous when he returned with a positive response. So beef teriyaki it was with an order of the meal completion ensemble of the famous sticky rice, miso soup and green beans in peanut sauce. It all comes at the same time though so don’t expect your soup first unless you request it.
All in all it was a good meal at a medium price point at $240 pesos for everything. Not many patrons yet as it is so new so you can have a quiet meal! Koma Sushi Restaurante Japones is located on 30 Ave. and 6th Street North in Playa del Carmen. Phone 984-803-5530. They are open Tuesday to Saturday from 1 PM to 10 PM and Sundays from 1 PM to 8 PM. They are closed Mondays.

The menu is in 3 languages; Japanese, English and Spanish and it is extensive. You best go before you are hungry because it will take you awhile to peruse it. It was filled with many Japanese delicacies not even I am familiar with.
Now what for my husband that I would like too as after all we are going to share – I know let’s try the noodle dish we have never heard of in English, Spanish or Japanese! It was excellent too and everything was very fresh.
