First we all know Mexico is in the center ring under the big top of the current media circus. The good thing is we are already seeing public opinion changing and those people who love Mexico are starting to see through that charade. It is sad to hear national news companies spouting ridiculous headlines coupled with the disclaimer that “this is an unconfirmed report”. Well unconfirmed information is equal to anyone else’s gossip. I can get that anywhere, I’m sure most people expect better than that. That kind of activity is certainly not helping the general public of the world turn the economy around. The good thing is that the public is smarter than that and they are beginning to understand that “things are not as they seem”. Knowing this first hand, I took advantage of the fact that our two teen age kids were on an unscheduled school break last week, and we went traveling. Yes Monday afternoon we booked our flights out of Cancun and we were on the plane Tuesday morning. We flew into the state of Michoacan in central Mexico. It was exciting, for all of the real reasons people love visiting Mexico; the historic sites, the beautiful people, new foods to try, the beaches, the sun shine and warm temperatures, and of course, the culture. We flew into Morelia, which is an incredible city. Morelia is celebrating its 468th birthday this year. The architecture and history will sweep you away.
The parks were huge with pine trees and old convents.
The churches had outdoor monasteries where the indigenous people would pray as they were not comfortable entering a building to pray. Everyone had a story to share with you of some fantastic event that took place in their town. Those are the reasons we came to Mexico and why we love it so much today. We had an outstanding time and an incredible family experience. We returned to Playa del Carmen Sunday evening flying into Cancun on a plane that was about 70% full. This was a good sign. Even with the shortage of planes coming in and the obvious distress that would cause to local businesses, The Blue Parrot reported this week they have seen sales increasing daily, still not what it should be but defiantly going in the right direction. The beaches in Playa del Carmen are filling up again. As you can see in these photos people are setting up for a beach side wedding, others are parasailing and jet skiing.
The point is we all love Mexico and nothing has changed. Don’t give up on your dream. The interesting thing, from a real estate point of view, is we have several investors here negotiating on some very large purchases. They know there will always be ups and downs and this is a great time to get an outstanding buy and take advantage of one of the rare down times here in Playa del Carmen. In addition, the Mexican government has announced it will put 75 to 100 million dollars into promoting Mexico. This will help spread the positive news about Mexico and ensure those people investing now in the slower time that they will have a great upside on their investment in the coming months. That’s it the straight scoop about Mexico, from what we have see here in Playa del Carmen and Central Mexico. I hope you enjoyed this and please pass it to your friends.
