Monorail Planned for Riviera Maya Government Master Planners Meet AMPI Arq. Ma. Del Consuleo Muñoz Escamilla , The Director of Planning from Desarrollo Urbano Municipality of Solidaridad – The City Planning Department, held a special meeting with the members of AMPI Riviera Maya, the local association of Real Estate Brokers and Agents, to offer a detailed and specific explanation of the Master Plan from 2005 – 20026. Called the POET Plan ( The General Program for Developing Regulations on the Rivera Maya), Director Muñoz explained the details for the 4 different areas of our the Riviera Maya including Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras, and Chemuyil City.
Joining them in this area is La Gran Plaza, the brand new huge mall currently being built on a new avenue that is north of Constituyentes. The Mall will have 12 Movie Theatres, 4 Big Department Stores to include Sears, JC Penny, Liverpool, Sanborns, and another 80 other smaller stores. It is expected to open within 12 months. In the same area, business hotels will be located to house those who travel to the Riviera Maya from Merida and Chetumal. Probably the most interesting and exciting news is that a new MONORAIL will be built that will travel from Cancun into Playa Del Carmen and all the way to Chetumal. It will offer inexpensive travel for those on the go. “This is new, exciting, and will be leading the way – consistent with our world class level of services now on offer” Muñoz explained. No date has been set for construction. In Puerto Aventuras town an airport is planned, In Chemuyil City, more urban improvements to water, sewer, and building. In Tulum, a new grand substation is being planned from the highway to the beach and one hectare lots will have only 25 rooms per hectare or 12 houses or condos per hectare. The desire is to keep building controlled and valuable. On the beach in Tulum, there will be only 4.5 rooms per hectare and in the Sian Kaan, they will have one house maximum of 200 square meter (about 2100 sq. feet) per each hectare or 100 lineal meters beach. This June, the office of Planning will conduct meetings on the POET Plan to include other leading groups in business and real estate. “When you have a property to sell to your clients, please come over our office first and confirm it’s use so that your buyers are represented well and know exactly what they expect. We want to insure that every buyer gets the absolute correct information regarding the use of their property so that their investment experience here in the Riviera May is successful”, Muñoz says.
