International Commercial Real
Estate Loans; Fact or Fiction?
American lenders are
now making commercial real estate loans internationally. Two years ago ther was an
article stating that international commercial real estate loans do not actually
close.....
Seattle; a sweet reprieve from the heat in Playa del Carmen.
Web Guy and I decided to take a bit of a break and head to the United State, Seattle in particular, to get a break from the heat in Playa del Carmen and visit family and friends. As our trips always go we ended up extending it by a week. We will be
returning to Playa del Carmen next Monday, October 8th. So, we thought we would let everyone know why there hasn’t been much activity on Playa Maya News! We will be back in our office first thing on the morning of the 9th and it will be business as usual.
In the mean time I have received an update from the Consular’s Office in Cozumel so I have included the information below…..
Celebrate Mexican Independence Day in Playa del Carmen
Tuesday, 11 September 2007
Come on out and join the fun of Mexican Independence Day in Playa del Carmen, and
participate in El Grito; Viva Mexico!
Día de Evita or Día de la Independencia (September sixteen or independence day) commemorates Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla's Grito de Dolores — on September 16, 1810, in the village of Dolores, near Guanajuato. Hidalgo called for the end of Spanish rule in Mexico. On October 18, 1825, the Republic of Mexico officially declared the day its national Independence Day.
Bomberos Update in Playa del Carmen September 2007
Tuesday, 04 September 2007
International Firefighter's Day was celebrated with some amazing announcements for Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, and Akumal.
Quintana Roo fire fighters
all postponed their celebration from the 22nd to the 29th
of August due to Hurricane Dean. The two Patronados which are the Foundations for Fire
Fighters in our state, the BOMBEROS DE LA RIVIERA MAYA A.C. and BOMBEROS
PROTECCION CIVIL Q. ROO I.A.P. attended all three celebrations. The first celebration
was in Playa Del Carmen where the Mayor announced a full remodel of the main
base on the highway as well as new construction on three new sub bases with
fire trucks and ambulances.
Tired of the hustle and bustle of New York, Madi Collins gave up
her legal corporate lifestyle in search of a more laid back living.
She thought what more peaceful place can there
be than her native island of Caye Caulker, pronounced (Key Corker) where people
use golf carts and bicycles instead of cars and there are no traffic or parking
problems to deal with!
La Palette, not just eating out, but a true dining
experience!
Web Guy and I were celebrating our 14th wedding
anniversary so we decided to commemorate this occasion with some fancy drinks,
gourmet food, and some good conversation; a true "date night". We decided on La
Palette for a number of
reasons; we hadn't been there before, we had
met the owners Farrah and Michael and liked their
personable attitudes, and we missed dining out in a style similar to many
restaurants we frequented in Seattle prior to moving to Playa del Carmen. So off we went to have a date night at La Palette....
Note: This is the 10th part of the serialization of Mari
Pintkowski’s book, “Embarking on the Mariposa Trail.” The book is
available at local bookstores along the Riviera Maya or on the author’s
web site www.laselvamariposa.com
For previous chapters see the PMN archives. The fluttering yellow mariposas led us into Monterey and began to disappear over the next
few days as we climbed high into the Sierra Madre mountain range. We found
ourselves in the middle of rush hour traffic with no hotels conveniently
located. We drove on and could see that we were leaving the city. The pink
sunset over the surrounding mountain ranges signaled that our search to find a
place for our first night on the Mariposa Trail was becoming more urgent.

Hurricane Dean passed by about 130 miles (210 km) to the south of Cozumel last night, bringing rain and wind to the island but with minimal effects.
Locals in Cozumel estimate that wind speeds were not much higher than 60 miles per hour (100kmh).
