McDonald's opened it's biggest store yet on the Careterra Federal in the parking lot of the Chedraui department store.
For a McDonalds, it is humongous complete with a wonderful area for the kids to play. And for those of you who find the heat exhausting, go in and have a McFlurrie and you will freeze as the the blasting air condition will transport you to an Igloo outside of Yellowknife Canada!
This place broke ground in February and it's already open. They build so fast here that you can barely blink your eye and boom, there it is!

How a Regular Guy from Jersey bought a Piece of Paradise
Wednesday, 05 May 2004
by John Gallik
How do those people who own those beautiful homes in Cozumel and the Riviera Maya do it?
Well, if you’re like me, you may have assumed that only doctors or lawyers were able to own a home in the Caribbean. Well, I’m here to tell you anyone can do it!
My name is John Gallik and I am real estate agent here on Cozumel. I am originally from New Jersey and recently moved here permanently after I fell in love with paradise. Now, I own a beautiful home here - just an average guy from New Jersey. So how did that happen? Can you do it?
Back in Jersey, I was a maintenance supervisor and property manager. My wife and I were on one of our many trips to the Island of Cozumel and just for fun stopped by Cozumel Living and spoke with Nancy Edwards, the owner.
Do I have to have my property in a Mexican’s name? As a foreigner I can’t own property in Mexico right? I understand we can only lease property in Mexico, what happens when the lease runs out?
Wow… There’s a lot of outdated information going around still.
Buying property in Mexico is not that difficult. Just look at the boom in foreign investment over the last several years. Many people are confused by the idea of buying property and holding it in a trust. Well, real estate trusts are not a new idea.

The Cozumel Marlins showed us why they are the best team in the Riviera Maya by defeating the upstart Playa del Carmen Los Chicos in the finals of the Tournament of Families.
The tournament was organized and sponsored by Desarroyo Integral de la Familia ( Organization for the Family Integration).
“DIF is dedicated to help the disabled, children, unwed mothers, and any family member with problems. DIF is promoting sports so that the children have something better to occupy their time with rather then finding their way into the streets where drugs, graffiti, or joining gangs may be an attractive way to spend their time” says the organization’s director Ernesto Calzada.
2 Teams form Cozumel, The Chachorros (The Puppies) and the Marlins with 2 teams from Playa del Carmen, Colossio and Los Chicos vying for the title, the stage was set for a Friday night on the pitch.

Los Chicos, the 3rd youth Futbol Soccer training school, has opened it’s doors in Playa del Carmen and is fast becoming a force in the Riviera Maya youth sports circuit.
Run by Fernando Chico, Los Chicos operates a youth training school for kids from 4-14 years of age. They also field one club team that plays other clubs and in a league with local school teams. Taking advantage of the facilities of CREA, the sports facility on 30th and 8th, the schools main focus is dedicated to raising the level of the player’s abilities. They start with kids from 4 years old and up.
Los Chicos is an independent school. All expenses are paid by the participating players and their parents. Each player pays a Monthly Fee of 250.00 pesos (about $ 22 usd) and a Sign-Up Fee of 250.00 pesos ( about $22 usd). Equipment and uniform are paid by the players.
“We have some players that don’t have the financial resources to pay and so they are sponsored by the rest of the participating players, covering all their expenses to be able to play the sport. It works well. Teamwork!” says Chico.
A Dying Baby is Saved and Thanks to One Tremendous Spirit, Everything is Coming Up Roses and Angels for Playa's Children
On a typical Playa del Carmen day, in 1999, a young lady from Bend, Oregon was walking down the street to do her typical shopping. She was here in Playa like most – to live on the beach, run a small business, and live a quiet life and raise their children.
On her way to the Super Maz, the local shopping market, she saw a young lady holding a baby. They baby was blue, and to her, the child seemed to be dead. Since she hardly spoke any Spanish, she didn’t know what could she do? She turned her back, and drove home to her busy new lifestyle. And that’s where the story would have ended. Except, as she was driving away, she stopped, turned her car around as if a force grabbed her! The voices grew loud and strong “You have to go back, you have to go back and ask this woman what is going on.”
She caught up with the young mother “My baby is dying” the young mother explained.
Couple from Holland find Success in the Jungle of Property Management
The Alkmaar cheese market, the Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam, the Peace Palace of The Hague, the Royal Palace on the Amsterdam Dam Square, the Cathedral Tower of Utrecht, the canal houses of Amsterdam, and parts of the Delta - everything Holland is famous for could not stop Paula Harbink and Dick C. Trap from realizing their dreams of Jungles, Caribbean Beaches, and the Real Estate Business.
Real Estate Business? Business, you say! In Paradise?
You see, Paula came from Holland to Playa del Carmen about 3 ½ years ago to work as an environmental engineer to assist in preserving the ecology of the area.
