Koma Sushi meal

 CLOSED

Have a Japanese restaurant in Playa del Carmen? Why not?

Yes, we actually have a few Japanese restaurants, but this one is new and just seemed to pop up on 30th Ave. It is called Koma Sushi.

So being of a curious and usually hungry nature let’s go there for dinner and don’t tell them you are going to review them so that you really see what kind of service and food you get.

The food was excellent and the service interesting .................

“If I had a bike, my younger brother would not have so far to walk to school….”

Please join us in making some children’s Christmas wishes come true!

It is the time of the year to spend time with our friends and our families, and it is always a benefit to ourselves and to others to make sure we share in the gift of giving to those friends and families with fewer resources then ourselves. It is in this spirit of giving and caring for our fellow neighbors that we ask the community for help.........

cenoteBy: Sam Meacham

Most residents of the Riviera Maya are familiar with cenotes; the enigmatic crystal clear pools of water that dot the Yucatan Peninsula’s landscape.

As their beauty is admired many questions are often asked about them:

How were they formed? .........How are they explored?

What can be found in the hidden depths of a Cenote? ...........What treasures can be found?

Is pollution affecting them? ......... The answers are very interesting ............

Barry's workBy: Barry Launius

Are you now, or have you ever, searched for other employment while being at your present position?

This was the question asked to me by the Personnel/Human Relations Director at my current job. I'd read the employee manual. I knew the rules and regulations. Regardless, my answer was an emphatic "Hell Yes!"

After the ugliest look on his face returned to just plain ugly-he laughed (knowing I was just joking), scooted closer and said "but seriously?" My response was the most serious he'd ever seen.

"And what may I asked is the type of employment you are seeking"

"To paint pretty pictures on the beach in a tropical location and scuba dive" I replied. And so the story begins ................

The Adventure of a Pelicanos Jeep Tour in Cozumel PDF Print E-mail

JeepsBy: Challis Moore

The sand was flying, the sun was warming our bodies and the drinks were chilling, more sand was flying ....... life in paradise!

Even though I've been living in Cozumel for 2 years, I rarely get the chance to do any "touristy" things. So, when I got the opportunity to go on a Jeep tour with Pelicanos, I jumped at the chance. My sister was in town for the weekend, so I was looking for ways to entertain her; the Jeep tour defiantly fit the bill!

Editors note on Picture: We are not really sure the jeeps looked like this as our reporter did not send a picture of them – but she did get lots of pictures of the tour guides!

Pelicanos Tours offer Jeep, dune buggy, and bicycle tours, and cater to the cruise ship clientele. We met up with our group at the International Pier; here we were introduced to our handsome tour guides and briefed on our plans for the day.

We were told that the tour would be extremely OFF-ROAD and that anyone with back problems, pregnant women, and very young children are advised not to go ...........

Tony and AmberBy: Tony Cox

AMBER MEANS GO

Yes it is the time for Amber Jacks to run here on the Quintana Roo Coast. These fish provide some excellent rod bending sport fishing action.

I have seen some nice fish come in at Playa del Carmen. The local Mexican captains are offering trips from the beach in their traditional Mexican boats which you will find moored along the shore line. These boats are excellent to fish from as the beaches are very shallow in Playa Del Carmen so the larger boats have problems coming ashore.

I like the Amber Jack fish because it is drift fishing which makes a change from trolling.

You need to catch some live bait .......................

The adventure of the USA Mexico border crossing PDF Print E-mail

moving truckBy: Mari Mulrooney

EMBARKING ON THE MARIPOSA TRAIL

With the winds of winter at our back, we left our home state of Colorado to embark on a journey that led us south of the border. We were chasing our dream to build a B&B perched high above the white sand beach and turquoise waters on our newly purchased property in Tulum. We had prepared for over a year for this step of the journey and were now approaching the Rio Grande Bridge for the border crossing.

We paid a $3 toll for our car and trailer, but did not realize that we needed a receipt before proceeding to the random “red light/green light” check station. We crossed without a hitch when the green light signaled our good news to advance. We headed to the vehicle registration complex. With butterflies in our stomach, we got in line and waited our turn at the window where two Mexicans, who spoke no English, examined our paperwork. We could tell by the way they kept shaking their heads as they examined our documents that something was not right..................
