Adopt-a-Pet in Playa del Carmen becoming a strong voice for rescued animals.
Adopt-
a-Pet has been part of PMN since it’s inception in 2004. It was part of our
Community Action section which highlighted local non-profits and charities and
aided in free publicity and fundraising. We had always hoped that Adopt-a-Pet
would catch on to a larger group and possibly develop into something more
significant.
In recent months it has done just that. People
from as far as Canada or Belize have contacted us in hopes of aiding in a rescue
of some precious animal.
Canadians Living and Traveling in Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya
Thursday, 24 May 2007
Mexico, specifically the Riviera Maya, has been getting quite a bit of bad press in Canada as of late. We decided to get a Canadian point of view, and our friend Shawn Bandick at One Stop Real Estate volunteered for the job. This is what he had to say......
Hello everyone. This article is a little bit different than what
you usually get from me, but it is from my heart and I felt it was time to
speak out. Is there more crime in Mexico than anywhere else?
Come on out and have a cold beer, or shot of Jaegermeister, at Pinche Gringo's in Playa del Carmen, and help some local women.

One of the greatest things about moving to another country is the chance
to make friends with people of another place and another culture. We
have been particularly blessed by meeting some really wonderful people
since moving to Playa del Carmen. Two of those people are sisters Mayte
and Alex. Not only are they some of the sweetest people around, but
they are some of the hardest working, which is suprising when you
know that Mayte is 23 and Alex is only 19.
Fishing Tournament In Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen
Tuesday, 22 May 2007
The annual fishing tournaments in Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen kick off this coming weekend.
Sports, or game fishing is often associated with the
Pacific side of Mexico, but the shores of the Rivera Maya are quickly becoming a
popular destination for sports fishing enthusiasts.Every year more and
more people head to the Riviera Maya region of Mexico to enjoy their passion
for one of the world's most popular activities, fishing. The great diversity of
species that live close to the Great Maya Reef, which protects the coasts of
the Mexican Caribbean, along with the possibility of sport fishing during the
entire year, have turned Cancun, Isla Mujeres, the Riviera Maya, the island of
Holbox, and the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve into some of the world’s top
destinations for fishing.
Check Out the Photo of the Week from Playa del Carmen
Monday, 21 May 2007
Send in your photos from Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya.
We were recently sent a photo that we thought everyone would like to check out. This then got us thinking; maybe we could showcase a standout photo once a week, or ever other week, depending on the response.
If you have a photograph of something or someone, in Playa del Carmen or other parts of the Riviera Maya, and you think it deserves a round of applause, send it our way. We will then check it out, and maybe we will choose your photo to post on the front page of Playa Maya News. All we need is the photo, your name, a brief description of the photo, and what type of camera you used (optional).
Eating locally not only supports local economy, but it guarantees fresh food which maximizes health benefits. Papayas are grown locally in Mexico, and are readily avialble to us here in the Riviera Maya, so not only can you enjoy this fresh tropical treat nearly year round, but it is really good for you too!
Papayas,
native to Central America, have long been used and enjoyed by the Latin
American Indians. Spanish and Portuguese explorers brought papayas from Central
America to many other parts of the world including India, the Philippines, and
parts of Africa.
The Law of Attraction and
Living in a Playa del Carmen
By: Suzanne Marie Bandick
The
Law of Attraction states that what we think about, picture and talk about will
manifest or be attracted into our life. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Like the Law of Gravity, we do not have to see it working to experience the
result. The
Law of Attraction does not care whether what you are thinking about, picturing,
and talking about is good for you or not - just as the Law of Gravity does not
care that the glass you just dropped was an antique from your grandmother.
We have all seen, or
heard of, the NBA stars who "slam dunk" the ball through the
"hoop" one too many times.
They make it look so easy, that we
always, and
usually unsucessfully, try imitating them
while playing "half-court ball" at the park. I personally remember a couple of guys in my
neighborhood that were actually able
to do it! "Slam
Dunk" is also an expression commonly used meaning "It is a done
deal!".
