July 26th, 2008 began the Mayan New Year which is the Year of the Blue Electric Storm. This is a year to break old patterns that keep you from being all that you can and wish to be. As we prepare for 2012, this year pushes us to cleanse and renew our own electric nervous system. This is a year of major transformations for those of you who are seriously practicing any form of body /soul discipline like dance, meditation, art, music or yoga.

The Mayans celebrate July 25th as the day out of time. I was with a group of about 50 people in Tulum for an early morning meditation. In the evening we celebrated at Sacbe with music and dance. I am in awe of how news travels in this area. It seems within days the word gets around that it is important to gather for meditation and celebration!

The Year of the Blue Electric Storm begins powerfully as August 1st is a new moon solar eclipse in the sign of Cancer. Venus, the planet so dear to the Mayans is very close to the sun, moon and mercury. The Mayans focused on Venus-the planet of love, beauty, and harmony. Seems the Mayan message for the year is to release anything in your life that does not resonate with the higher vibration of love.

August 16 is the next full moon, which is in Capricorn, and with a total lunar eclipse this may be the most powerful one of the year. This month is going to be BIG. Please remember to take care of yourself as Mukutanda says.
