Weddings on the Beach in Playa del Carmen

Meet Natalia Schweitzer of Weddings on the Beach in Playa del Carmen.

Now that you are engaged you have to actually plan your wedding. There are so many different kinds of wedding ceremonies and celebrations all across the world. Some are lavish and extravagant, while others are simple and very intimate, many are religious, and some couples dream of having a unique ceremony on a tropical beach.

The Riviera Maya has become a top destination, not only for tourism, but for weddings as well. There are many advantages to having a tropical beach wedding in Playa del Carmen or the Riviera Maya;  all of your RSVP cards will be returned with the Yes box checked, it is pretty unlikely your wedding will get rained out, you will already be at a world renowned honeymoon destination, and it will cost a fraction of what a wedding would cost in the United States, Canada, or Europe. So now that you have decided to make your wedding day special and unique with a tropical back drop; now what? What paperwork do you need? Do you need blood work done? If you get married here will the union be legal? Enter Natalia Schweitzer, of Weddings on the Beach located in Playa del Carmen.

Originally from Santiago, Chile, Natalia first came to Playa del Carmen in 1997 for a holiday. For the following two years she returned for visits, and due to her background and studies in the hotel industry she was eventually offered a job at an All-Inclusive Resort in Cancun. A year later she fell  in love with the small town of Playa del Carmen,  moved here and got a job at the Iberostar Tucan Quetzal as a wedding coordinator. This is where she stayed for the following 2 years, where she helped coordinate and facilitate more then 150 weddings. She then left for a year and a half and traveled throughout Europe, but when she did return she continued in wedding and events planning continuing to add to her experience and expertise in events, both large and small.   In 2000 she met and fell in love with an Englishman named Matt Shelly. They were introduced by mutual friends while on a group outing at Club Requiem (today known as Pure Night), and they were married by 2002. She now owns and operates Weddings on the Beach, and has been busy since its inception!  Due to the fact that Natalia has been coordinating weddings in Playa del Carmen and The Riviera Maya for many years she has a strong relationship with all of the local suppliers so she can handle anything from a 2 person renewal ceremony to an elaborate wedding for 200 people. Natalia is also bilingual, which will make things run smoothly without any major glitches on your special day.
