Walmart opens after much specualtion.

For  the past year Playa del Carmen has speculated on when and where Walmart would open its doors, and yesterday the long awaited opening occurred. Although many Playa del Carmen residents were resistent to the shopping giant arrving in our quiet little beach town there is no denying that Playa del Carmen is booming!

Walmart kicked off its grand opening with DJ's, product represenatives, balloons, and performance artists to let the community know that Walmart has finally arrived. It joins Super San Francisco, and the pending Comercial Mexicana on 30th to round out a shoppers dream that goes on for 5 city blocks.

 Walmart is located on 30th Avenue between 8th and 10th Street and is open 7 days a week from 7:00 AM until Midnight. The word on the street is that after January 1st they will be open 24 hours a day everyday to fullfill all of your shopping needs. So whether you are excited that this mega store has arrived or you are disappointed that Playa del Carmen has succumbed to yet another chain, it is here and going to stay!
