Karen and Greco, from Hole in the Wall, will be hosting a grand opening party on Thursday December 13th from 10:00 PM until 12:00 midnight. They will be spinning great tunes and beers will be only 10 pesos, and cocktails will be 25 pesos. Come and raise a glass to Hole in the Walls success! The Hole in the Wall is located on 1st Avenue between 12th and 14th Street right next to Diablito’s Cha Cha Cha. Also Bar Ranita will be hosting their annual Santa Lucia party.....


Bar Ranita is hosting their annual Santa Lucia party ( a traditional Swedish holiday) Thursday December 13th beginning at 8:00 PM. Bar Ranita is located on 10th Street between 5th and 10th Avenue in Playa del Carmen.

City Club opens in Playa del Carmen- This Thursday December 13th, City Club will be opening at the Centro Maya Shopping Center. City Club is similar to Sam’s Club, but it is owned by the same company as Soriana, and the Playa del Carmen location will be the 8th location in Mexico. Memberships will be $250.00 pesos annually and will cover 2 cards. For more information visit www.soriana.com

Local non-profit Ak Lu’um International School will be hosting a fundraiser Sunday December 16th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Balls, Bar, and Billards which is located on the corner of 38th Street and 30th Avenue tucked behind the Pemex. For $100.00 pesos you get 3 hours of pool playing and a bucket of beer – you can’t beat that!

Angel Notion and the Bomberos (our local fire department) have kicked off their annual gift drive. For a list of tree locations and volunteer needs please see this article. Playa Maya News is co-sponsoring a tree with the Blue Parrot so if you have gifts to donate bring them to our tree! The PMN/BP tree is located in front of reception at the Blue Parrot located on 12th Street and the beach.

Jaime, the innovator behind El Oasis (among others) has teamed up with Pinche Gringo’s and is now running the kitchen there. Along with all of your favorite bar snacks of burgers, wings, and BLT’s, he also has an extensive seafood menu that has everyone else beat in regards to ceviches, seafood cocktails, and tacos. Pinche Gringo’s is located on the corner of 26th and 1st Avenue.
