Owner and dive instructor Dave Tomlinson has been in Playa del Carmen for the past 9 years, and he opened the Abyss Dive Shop 7 years ago. In 2003 a Tulum location was added to accommodate the increasing demand for quality dive centers. Originally from Revelstoke, British Columbia, Dave has been diving for more then 14 years. He has been diving through out Mexico, Honduras, and Belize, not only does this enable him to bring immense knowledge to his staff and clients, but it allows him to bring a diverse point of view as well.

The Abyss Dive Shop not only offers diving and training, but they have a little something for everyone. For those of you who are non divers they offer off the beaten path snorkeling expeditions. For the brave and adventurous they have extensive experience and incredible locations to try cave and cavern diving, and for just plain fun they have an annual treasure hunt, underwater pumpkin carving contest, and beach clean up.

So if you are interested in anything related to diving or water adventures stop by for one of their Saturday afternoon barbeques and pick their brain. They will not only offer excellent advice, but you will take away an incredible experience, meet new people, and add a whole new dimension to your trip to the Riviera Maya!

This article is absolutely everything it says. The Abyss Dive Shop is nothing short of professional and fun. My wife and I have enjoyed 2 holidays to Playa del Carmen and both times we dove with Dave and his Team. Knowledge, safety, and experience....and don't forget fun! If you are a diver or want to get into it, I definately recomend visiting them at either the Playa Del Carmen shop or in Tulum.
