How You Can Help in Playa del Carmen PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 23 July 2005
We have recieved many e-mails from people who want to lend a helping hand to those in need afer Hurricane Emily. There are plenty of people who lost their homes, and who need help rebuilding and restoring their homes and lives. Below are a few non-profit organizations who have been working with the local community for years, and who have upstanding reputations in the community as well. Just click on the links below, and you can contact the organizations directlyl. Any help that you can offer will be greatly appreciated!

Angel Notion is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and donations to provide education, medical aid, and opportunities for people of lesser means and special needs. Angel Notion is located in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.  http://www.angelnotion.com/

The Bomberos are our local fire department, and have been active in, and around, the community for years. Not only do they fight our fires, and respond to emergency calls, but they do gift drives for local charities, charity events, and outreach programs. http://www.bomberosrivieramaya.org/

The eye of the storm hit directly over Xel-Ha Ecological Park. Click here to see a map of the hurricane path. Due to this fact one very hard hit area was Puerto Aventuras, in particular, the poblado on the West side of the freeway. The local spay and neuter clinic, and the community school, were both severely damaged: Check out these past Playa Maya News articles for more information on both of these nonprofit organizations, but keep in mind that power and phone lines are still down, so it may be difficult to get through, BE PATIENT AND KEEP TRYING!
