New Look, New Attitude, Playa Maya News makes a change! The Playa Maya News Extreme Team came in over the weekend with their graphic tools and keyboards and gave our site, and our logo a facelift. We are excited to embark on our second year, and we thought a little attitude adjustment was in order. So please enjoy it, and feel free to give us any feedback, we are here to serve our community, so your opinion matters! In addition we have a new sales manager........ Our former sales manager, Angel Romo, has decided to leave Playa Maya News, and start his own paper, Riviera News. We wish him all of the best, and hope to help him celebrate his success on his solo venture! Thank you all for your continued support throughout this last year, we could not have done it without the community behind us! So please put April 5th on your calenders so you can come and join us at our first anniversary party at The Blue Parrot. Details will be in our March editon of Playa Maya News. And again thank you to our advertisers, writers, readers, and staff.....YOU ROCK! Questions, comments, and concerns can be sent to: This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it A note from the editor: We wanted our new logo to have a significant meaning to both the paper and our mission, and so we picked the descending god to be centered in the sun. Although there are many different theories of who he was and his significance we asked our friend Cenote Sam, our local Mayan expert, and this is what he wrote: The decending god is represented in various places in the Yucatan, but was especially prominent in Tulum. The Maya believed a god came down from heaven who then taught them all their cool stuff, eventually this god became Kukalkan. One theory says he came from Atlantis and was named Voltan. Basically, it seems that he was the carrier of knowledge from the heavens...if you have any other insigts of theories we would love to hear them! Comments (0)
