Babysitting in Playa del Carmen: Take a night off from
parenting or spend an R ‘n' R day on the beach "kid free".
One of the most frequently asked questions that we receive
is in regards to childcare available in Playa del Carmen. Many year round
residents have nannies or part time childcare, but many people coming to visit
don't really know what is available. Many resorts have in-house childcare, but
if you are staying in a private condominium or villa the options are a bit more
limited; until recently. I was walking near Paseo del Carmen when I saw a flyer
that was advertising bi-lingual childcare services with over 15 years of experience
so I took the flyer and decided to do further investigating.
I called the number on the flyer and reached Lisa Gutierrez,
a single mother of 2, who lived here in Playa del Carmen years ago, but recently
moved back again from Belize. We set up a time to meet for a coffee, and I got
to get the low down.
Lisandra Gutierrez was born and raised in Belize, and also
spent a significant amount of time in Guatemala, where she went to school at
the Instituto Guatemalteco Americano and received her certification as an
English teacher. She has over 10 years of experience in teaching English to
both adults and children, and also taught at one of the larger resorts here in
Playa del Carmen when she lived here from 1999-2003. In addition to her
experience as a single mother she has also has the skill and knowledge with one
on one childcare.
To round out her teaching and childcare resumes, she was also
involved in an Artists Collective here in Playa del Carmen helping to promote
and work with local artists in the area. With her experience, and her fluencyin 3 languages (Spanish, English, and
Creole), Lisa is a perfect candidate to provide quality in-house childcare for
visitors, or year round residents, who want a night out on the town, or a "kid
free" day of R ‘n' R on the beach.Lisa
