This Musician's CDs aim to tune you up.
Guitarist Daniel Cordero is releasing a series of CDs that mix soothing guitar music with sublimal tones designed to promote health.
Daniel Cordero, a 24-year-old professional musician who has suffered from severe hearing loss since he was born, has utilized his in-depth studies of the effects of sound and sound frequencies to develop a series of three CDs, which he developed to positively affect human health and perception.
Cordero is well known as the lead singer and bass guitarist with the rock group Asi Es La Vida, based in Guadalajara. He began studying the guitar when he was 14 years old. He recounts how he "heard" what he was playing by resting his cheekbone against the wood of the instrument, the bone acting as a conduit for the notes' frequencies. It was his understanding that sound is really vibration with different notes vibrating at different frequencies that led him to study and experimentation.
Cordero quotes Albert Einstein who said, "Concerning matter, we have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter."
Cordero's approach to sound therapy is based on the tenet that everything in the universe is in a state of vibration. He says that each organ, system and cell has a natural balance, a specific vibratory frequency in which it operates perfectly and in optimal health. A "dis-harmony," or imbalance in these frequencies can manifest as illness or disease.

According to the laws of physics, Cordero says, frequencies attract and synchronize with each other, with the weaker of the two gradually attuning itself to the stronger. In sound therapy, a digital tone that is incapable of fluctuation (and thus stronger) is used to draw cellular frequencies back into balance.
In the CDs, Cordero notes, he utilizes a combination of tones from the Solfeggio scale, a six-note Gregorian chant recently rediscovered by Joseph Puleo. Other key concepts in Daniel Cordero's work are binaural beats (a minute frequency difference between two notes played simultaneously creating a pulse that stimulates the brain and bridges the left and right hemispheres so that they work together) and the Schumann Resonance (the natural electromagnetic frequency from the earth's core). In Cordero's CDs, the tones are played subliminally under his mellow, acoustical guitar music.
The first CD in the Tranquility Series, "Healing and Relaxation" is to stimulate the immune system, promote deep sleep, healing, pain relief, DNA repair and spiritual attunement. The second, "Vitality and Mental Activity," aims to facilitate learning, memory retention, physical and mental energy and alertness. The third, "Balance and Harmony," is geared to relieve stress, counteract harmful influences such as emissions from electrical or electromagnetic fields and reestablish harmony with the earth's natural resonance.
Although Cordero is aware that vibration frequencies can be used for negative effect, he says that the frequencies he uses have been tested and retested for side effects and that sound therapy is safe and not intrusive or addictive. Cordero notes that his CDs can be used alone or with massage therapy, meditation, acupuncture, acupressure and aromatherapy.
