From local favorite Aguamala, to jazz-rock guitarist David ‘Fuze’ Fiuczynski playing with the Screaming Headless Torsos, to long time Funk Jazz favorite Kool and the Gang, the Fourth Annual Riviera Maya Jazz Festival is sure to be a hit! The four day festival will hold the majority of its concerts at Mamita's Beach, with the final tribute show on Saturday night at The Royal Porto Real. Playa del Carmen’s favorite jazz rock band returns for the third time as official hosts of the Riviera Maya Jazz Festival. They recently performed at the WTC in Mexico City as special guests of the “Expo Sound Check 2006” This concert was recorded live. The album will be on the market by mid August.

Considered the most important jazz rock band worldwide. Leaded by guitarist, composer and Berkley teacher David Fucinzky, who has and impressive recording resume as well as a large list of participations with world known jazz stars.

Wet Paint is a wonderful band lead by Roberto Arballo, best known as “Betuco”, is an extraordinary Mexican guitarist recognized worldwide. This always changing band has had as members from the most important exponents of Mexican jazz, and without a doubt is one of the most important groups of the national jazz scene.

Tom Coster

Tom Coster is keyboard player and gifted composer, which is fundamental in contemporary music. He is an integral part of Carlos Santana’s band with whom he co-wrote songs like "Europa", among many others. This outstanding jazz musician will be sharing the best of his original repertoire, which promises to be one of the big surprises on the 2006 edition of Riviera Maya Jazz Festival.


Kool and The Gang in Playa del Carmen

Over 30 years of experience and huge commercial hits back up the successful career of this outstanding band. Their first visit to Riviera Maya guarantees a unique party of sounds and rhythms only found on their world-known tunes.

Benny Ibarra and Nacho Mendez will be joined by Wet Paint, Tom Coster,and Aguamala to perform a Tribute to The Beatles, which will certainly be an audible treat!

In his band he is always surrounded by extraordinary musicians, and he is currently promoting his new album “Asi” that has been very well accepted by international audiences.


Nacho Mendez in PLaya del Carmen  

Nacho Mendez

Nacho Mendez is a guitarist, composer, arranger, actor, director, and has an impressive career and in many ways he is responsible for the introduction of bossa nova to Mexico’s music scene. Winner of the “Lira de Oro”, Maximum Recognition Award, presented by the Unique Syndicate of the Workers of Music, he also has numerous productions that range from publicity jingles to TV programs to musical theater.
