Colorful 5th Avenue Art Exhibition Comes to Playa on May 14th

Ana Fuentes Garcia, owner and manager of the new Pladi - Galeria de Plata y Arte on 5th Avenue near 26th has announced their second art exhibition to be held on May 14th.

The big show will feature the works of famed artist Juan Cordova Ordonez and his colorful work inspired from the area.

In addition to featuring art from the famed artist, Pladi will also display works from Tere Cuevas from Merida, Pinachelli from Mexico, Martha Garcia’s collages with paper and metals, Rolando Ledesma from Cancun, Vera K. from Croatia who now lives here in Playa for last 20 years, and James Brown, the gallery’s first successful artist whom they showed last month

“The last exposition was great. James Brown originally from Texas now living in Playa brought in his outstanding colorful work and the public just went wild. Even in the rain, they came to marvel. Of course, we had to adjust to the rain and put all inside. Still people came to our show. It was impressive. In fact, Mr. Brown made a large contact with a person from Dallas Texas to show his work in the U.S. We are so proud to be James Brown’s home gallery” Ana says.

anaAna who was born in Mexico City and lived in Merida for 12 years came to Playa 5 months ago in December of 2003.

“I came to open up a gallery because I felt that there was so much art here to be expressed but not enough places to show it. So I opened up Pladi 2 months ago and it’s been great. Playa is a magical place for art and it’s getting better each day” Ana explains.

Pladi gives space for local artists to show and sell. All work in the gallery is original.

We give an option for artists to place their work in a convenient and easy to get to gallery where their fans and art lovers can come to appreciate the passion.” Ana expresses.

Pladi plans on promoting their gallery artists through cultural events, more showings, and even classes for painting.
