Why do we have to remind ourselves to RELAX?

Why do we have to remind ourselves to take a second to catch our breath or just `be in the moment’?

Why? Because, even in this wonderful Mayan Riviera, we still stress ourselves with `stuff’. We `sweat the small stuff’ and by the time we get to the big stuff, it has become overwhelming. STOP!! Before you forget why you moved to Playa in the first place. This wonderland, which you’ve moved down to, was to escape from the stress of your native land, correct??!!

Well, here are some quick tips to help you `re-group’ your thoughts and emotions. De-Stress per-say........

**Breathe – even when you can’t control a situation, you can always control your breathing and thus change your reaction to unpleasant circumstances.

**Meditate – Meditation is the practice and process of paying attention and focusing your awareness.

1. When you focus your mind, you concentrate better.

2. When you meditate/relax, you decrease blood pressure, slow your heart rate, dilate your arteries & clear your thinking.

3. Your mind quiets down & you experience an inner sense of peace, joy and well-being.

**Practice – Consistency is more important than duration. If you meditate for even just one minute, chances are you will continue doing it for longer.

**Be mindful – Observe whatever comes up in each moment, without judgment!

Take a few minutes and think about these tips every day. Not only will your mind ease and your blood pressure lower, so will your relationships be calmer. Your friends and loved ones will wonder what happened, and quietly thank whoever was responsible for the peace that you have found; and this will also bring your friends and family a new found peace. Try it and watch what happens.

Be well & Breathe.
