Escaping the Beaches of Playa del Carmen for a Holiday in Merida

Our son had an American Football game a few weekends ago in Merida, which is about four hours from our home in Playa del Carmen. Merida is an excellent example of a colonial city; it has European charm mixed with the colorful flare of Mexico. This is culture and shopping at its best. What a perfect opportunity for a family getaway.Do you have a teenage daughter that doesn’t always want to get away with the family? Easy, bribe her with shopping. A little forced family togetherness is good for the family.....

With Growth Comes Choices and Competition.

As Playa del Carmen and the Riviera Maya continues to boom locals and visitors alike have more choices on where to shop, where to eat, where to work out, and in general where to go to get the best deal for your individual needs.  Businesses now have to compete for clients, and in turn increase their services, decrease their prices and offer unique amenities to pull in clients. Sams, Walmart, Mega Comercial, and now Office Depot have made it more convenient for locals, and are now keeping business here in Playa del Carmen rather then Cancun. Centro Maya and Plaza Las Americas will only add to our existing services benefiting the local economy as well as adding more  choices.

by Suzanne Bandick

The Lighter Side of..............

I live in a tropical paradise. It comes complete with swaying palm trees and gorgeous sand and this turquoise blue ocean. I can’t just look at the ocean I need to be in it right? I need to sunbathe so that I don’t look too pale right? I also need to get cooled off in my neighbors pool right? Right. You see you agree. Now, here is the dilemma. What to wear?.......

Hurricane Emily:
Rebuilding Puerto Aventuras

It took two hours, beginning just after midnight, for Hurricane Emily to devastate the Resort of Puerto Aventuras. With the arrival of first light, the extent of the damage could be seen. At least half the trees were broken or uprooted and most of the leaves were gone. Bewildered birds and uncomprehending squirrels toured the wreckage. People cut their way through downed foliage, around broken glass and shards of roof tiles, making their way to the impassible streets........

Escape from the Cube

By Gary Isse

I was working for a Fortune 500 company, climbing the corporate ladder, motivated by the many promises of a bright future with unlimited potential. The problem was, the people making me these promises did not seem very happy with their own lives, nor had they very much to show for their work other than material things. Don’t get me wrong. I desire nice things just as much as the next guy, yet, I also desire happiness....
