Meet Daniel Price; Kiteboarder, Graphic Designer, Adventurer

Daniel, originally from Portsworth England, moved to Tulum in May, 2008, and here is how he got here.....

Upon graduating from Southbank University in London in 2004 Daniel worked for a well known visual effects company, The Mill. He developed his career in 2D compositing as well as in 3D animation for the Natural History Museum in London. After 4 years with The Mill in London he was offered a job in their new branch in Los Angeles. His adventurous spirit landed him in LA in 2007 for a 6 month contract working on high profile commercials such as ; Axe, Nascar, Gatorade, JC Penny, Kia, and RATP.

In early 2008 Daniel decided to take a “cultural break”, and embark on a new adventure. He researched the Riviera Maya, and was drawn to the area for the culture, ruins and the incredible landscape. Being a certified dive master he was looking for a job in that field when he stumbled upon the dive shop and kiteboarding school, Extreme Control in Tulum, during his research. He contacted them to see what job opportunities they may have had, and the next thing you know he was on a plane to the Riviera Maya!

 
He originally volunteered to be their underwater videographer, but lost his equipment the first week (I think everyone has a story similar to this!). He then went on to get IKO certified as a kiteboarding instructor, and now teaches for Extreme Control. His involvement with Extreme Control also developed into a position as the Creative Director for the company helping brand the company through a series of new logos, advertising media, and web development.

After the first year of ironing out the kinks of living and working in Mexico, he has learned to roll with the punches, and gets a buzz off of both the physical and mental challenges of his current job.
