Effective March 8, 2005, a new passport security surcharge of $12 will be collected from all passport applicants. For first time applicants, this surcharge will be added to the regular passport fees of $55 (age 16 and older), and $40 (under age 16) ,in addition to the $30 execution fee, making the total cost $97.00 for a ten-year passport, and $82 for a 5-year passport for those under age 16. For applicants renewing their passports, the surcharge will be added to the regular passport fee of $55 making total the cost for routine service $67. For passport application forms, please visit: www.travel.state.gov In an effort to clean up the beach on the other side of the island, Yvonne Villiger of Guido's, has created "Proyecto Hormiga" (Ant Project). She is providing free jumbo trash bags to anyone that is going to the other side of the island, and would be willing to spend some time picking up trash, to clean-up our beautiful beaches. Once done, all that is asked is that the knotted trash bag be left on the side of the road where the Marine Park rangers will it up 3 times per week. Persons wishing to consult with the Tax Assistance Specialist should call 01 (55) 5080-2000, ext. 4905 or 4220 for an appointment. On the day of the appointment, please bring proof of US citizenship & photo id for entry into the Embassy ,check in with the receptionist upon arrival. The Specialist will be available Wednesday, March 9 - Thursday, March 17; 8:30 a.m .-12:30 p.m.; 1:30-4:30 p.m. Please have your questions prepared beforehand since there is great demand for this free service.
