Cuba exports all its cigars directly through Habanos, S.A.; the Cuban government places a Habanos hologram sticker and the Republic of Cuba sticker in all boxes going out of the country; so all boxes not bearing these seals are doubtful. The manufacturer also prints the date of manufacture on the bottom part of each box - as quality cigars, just like wines, improve with age.
A good cigar is the finishing touch to key events in your life; that business contract, dinner, party or relaxing day; a way to enjoy one of life’s treasures and to explore the adventurous world of fine tobacco products. One of the things I miss most from my home town is our cigar club; a group of 10 people that sat together Monday evenings just to have dinner, some wine and enjoy fine cigars. The downside of cigar smoking (other than health related issues and the smell for non smokers) is that a good cigar can be very aggressive on your stomach. The way good cigars are built can make you feel pretty bad if not smoked in a relaxed way. It might sound funny but a cigar requires time. A good friend and cigar guru told me once that If you do not have one hour to smoke a cigar, don’t light it up. Smoking a cigar - like a cigarette - can lead you to an upset stomach.
Cigar smoking is not only for men; it is, as wine, a pleasure that can be enjoyed by everyone. Memo to my fellow US friends: Go ahead and enjoy Mexico. Have a great Cigar. Here in Mexico, smoking is legal and is a personal choice. So, relax with a good cigar while walking down the Quinta. Just remember a very important rule: Respect others as they might not be in the mood for that flavorful cigar smoke! Finally, for anyone interested, we could set up a cigar smoking evening in Puerto Aventuras! Are you in? Ing. Gerardo Garcia - Tratamiento de Aguas, Riviera Maya, Q.
