Meet Arielle Thomas Newman- Yoga by the Sea-Dancer, Traveler, Teacher, and Yoga Enthusiast

Arielle has been in the Playa del Carmen area for the past 6 years and her "map" hails from the US, Hawaii to Australia with many points in between. With a long background in dance, movement, and yoga, Arielle and her husband first came to Akumal 10 years ago to promote Yoga By the Sea retreats. They made the move 6 years ago when Playa del Carmen met their criteria for a more laid back lifestyle, on the beach, and a short plane ride back to the US. Born to artist parents she has a strong a background in Fine Arts receiving her Maters in Dance and Choreography from UCLA. ...

This naturally segued into getting her teacher certification for Yoga over 20 years ago and she has combined the 2 into a "synthesist" approach focusing on posture and alignment. Having studied under Judith Lasater, who is an Iyengar (alignment) based teacher, Arielle as also incorporated Hatha, Vinasya Flow into her class repertoire.

Her mission is to ...."have people experience yoga to their fullest capacity under experienced guidance with out injury using props." She continues onto to say that modifying poses to enable people to practice proper alignment is a key to individual yoga success. She continues to further her education and has her 500 certification through the Yoga Alliance, one of only 6 in all of Mexico, and she is also certified to certify teachers. Through Power yoga, Restorative Yoga and a large sprinkling of humor Arielle "mixes it up" and keeps her students coming back for more. With her studio located right on the beach in Playa del Carmen, not only do you get the expertise and humor of Arielle, but you also get the calming ebb and flow of the Caribbean Sea as you visualize and align yourself on a path to better health and overall well-being.

Arielle is now offering 2 unique classes and retreats, the first in the area, Wedding Yoga, and the Girlfriend Renewal Retreat.

THE FOUR ELEMENTS WEDDING CELEBRATION©

¨ Welcome Meeting for the bride and groom and invited guests. (With candle-lit appetizer reception in the Alhambra Hotel).

¨ Earth, Air, Fire, and Water Blessing. Using symbolic totems of the four elements (brought by the bride and groom) or provided from the rich on-site options found in the tropical Caribbean landscape, i.e., a shell, beautiful stone, a wedding candle, and the sacred copal incense, the bridal couple is given an Elemental Blessing of love, purity, devotion, health, and clarity.

¨ Intention-Setting Circle to set the foundation of the wedding in a circle of light, clearing energetic discordances, and elevating the wedding plans to the highest vibration. Composition of the content of the wedding will be discussed: the order of events; the vows; the preferences of music; readings, etc.

¨ Gratitude Offering - an opportunity for the bride, groom, and family of the couple to offer thanks for this special occasion that marks the union of the two individuals and the goodness that has been part of their lives prior to, and upon meeting one another.

¨ Chakra-Clearing Meditation for the bride and groom. A proven method to clear the energy of the 7 primary chakras of the body and to increase the vibrancy of the body's aura (energy field).

¨ Couples Massage on the roof of the Alhambra under a canopy of white cloth or in the tranquil massage rooms of the Alhambra Hotel.

¨ Partner Yoga Class - a special class for the bride and groom to deepen their connection through the shared experience of partner stretches, breathing exercises, and a Sun and Sea meditation.

¨ Group Yoga Class - a Mixed-Level Hatha Yoga Class appropriate for people of all ages who have traveled to be with their friends and loved ones and witness their wedding celebration; a wonderful way to work out the kinks and tension from traveling.
