Meet Carlos Jong; Personal Trainer, Entrepreneur and Community Action Leader.

Carlos , originally from Mexico City, moved to Playa del Carmen in 1999 to take a job at local area resorts working in sports animation as well as water sports; kayaking, snorkeling, and sailing. During one of his first jobs, at the Bahia Principe Resort, he met his future wife, Laura Raikes who was on a holiday from Wales, and she then decided to stay in Mexico and got a job alongside Carlos in animation.

Always active in sports since he was a young child Carlos went into professional fitness in 2000 getting certified as a gym instructor, then he was certified as a personal trainer, as well as safety training and certification in CPR. He went on to be a personal trainer f the Rosewood at Mayakoba, and was there for a year, and was fortunate enough to train with his long time inspiration; Arnold Schwarzenegger. He eventually decided to g o out on his own, and now runs his own in-home personal training company.

He offers everything from dietary modification, sports training, resistant training, and caters to each individual client to meet their goals. He brings everything needed for in-home training straight to your door step to make it easy for people to achieve their fitness goals; all you need is water, a towel, and the desire to change your body and lifestyle!!! He offers both one-on-one training as well as small group training; whatever works to get people motivated!

Carlos is also very active in the non-profit that he and his wife Laura started in early 2009; Coco’s Cat Rescue . A registered nonprofit, Coco’s Cat Rescue is a Playa del Carmen rescue charity focusing on the spay and neuter of feral cats and the care and re-homing of kittens in need of rescue. They provide free or low-cost spay and neuter surgeries to local residents, as well as vaccinations and basic animal care.
