Duncan Wong in Playa del CarmenYogic Arts™ Workshop by Duncan Wong in Playa del Carmen.

What is Yogic Arts™ ?

The Yogic Arts™ system is comprised of the sequencing of classical standing asanas [poses], infused with martial art and modern dance stance integrations, therapeutic kicking drills, a core floor workout, a deeply therapeutic hip and shoulder opening sequence, and a traditional vinyasic finishing practice, which includes elements of Thai massage and guided meditation. Each practice focuses on different aspects of the respective integration of massage, martial arts, and yogic technique, as we explore the evolution of asana and vinyasa [posture and movement].

About Duncan Wong:

Growing up with backyard martial arts and the realness of street fighting in the rural delta region of Northern California, juxtaposed with the influence of his grandfather’s Gung-Fu practice and incense burning rituals, and formal dojang [Korean martial arts school] training; with his Buddhist master, he was never a stranger to the intuitive reflexes and highs associated with physicality. These early memories and experiences led him to his own life-long pursuit of the practices of Astanga Vinyasa yoga and Kuk Sool Won [traditional Korean Buddhist] martial arts. In his youth and teenage years, he practiced the way of the sword, and You Won Hwa [flowing circular harmony] while perfecting his asanas and floating [advanced aerial arm balancing] techniques. He cultivated both disciplines simultaneously throughout his twenties. His travels expanded with his interests, which eventually exposed him to the art of Thai massage [active yoga massage] and other healing methods. This form of sacred touch was the necessary element that supported the development of the Yogic Arts™ system into its current form, which is the ongoing expression of his life work.

His practice spans over 20 years and his teachings extend across the globe.
