Buying Property question 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
I have citizenship in both Mexico and the US, as I was born in Guadalajara to American parents, and I have a couple questions. My roommate and I will be moving down to Playa for three months next year, and in our time there I would like to:

A) work
&
look at potential property for sale

My questions are these:

To get work legally, will I need any other form of indentification other than my Mexican passport? I will obviously have my US drivers license ans passport, but am wondering if I should pack anything else to ensure being able to legally secure a job. Also, I will be looking for work in local bars as a bartender, which I have a lot of experience in, and am interested in mostly English speaking places for employment. Any ideas?

Also

Are there price differences for houses/land/property for Mexicans buying vs. Americans leasing? It seems that the prices I have found for condos etc are not that much less than in the States, and am wondering if this is universal for every type of transaction?

We are also looking for places to rent when we are there. Please refer to my post in the classifieds section for details.

Thank you!

Hello Mel.
I can not be sure about your ID but I think any ID that shows you have Mexican citezenship will work.
Regarding your property question....sorry the price is the same for a Mexican or American; it won't matter. The only difference is an American ( any Foreigner) will hold their property in a trust designed to protect the foreign investor. You should also understand many Mexicans will buy less expensive housing than you are seeing on the internet. What you see on the net are properties in the tourist area and it is the number 1 tourist destination in the world today so it is not cheap. If a person went further back in town you will find different opportunities but , you may or may not want to invest there as you will be in the undeveloped area. Certainly not a bad place just not a tourist area.
