My husband and I (from N.C.) have rented an apartment in Playa for 4 weeks in June-July '08. Unfortunately the apartment complex does not have a pool. Can anyone recommend a beach club we could "join" for the month, or pay per visit, to have access to a nice pool? Are there beach clubs that will do this? (We're looking for something that is more quiet, relaxing, less partying.)

There are a couple of options in regards to a beach club. One option is daily use at Kool Beach, which is about $7.00 USD per person and that includes a beach chair and access to their pool, showers, changing rooms, etc. They are a pretty popular beach, but it is usually very quiet here in June and July. Another option to look into could be the Reef Club in Playacar. I know they offer day passes for use of their club, but it is only if they are not at capacity with their in-house guests. There is also a great beach club in Puerto Morelos, about 20 minutes north of Playa, that is absolutely great, and very rarely crowded. The best option is the ocean however as most pools in the summer get so warm by the middle of the day there isn't much difference between air and water! Hope this helps......
