crecer-juntos.jpgVacation Fun for Young Ones Ages 3-7
Vacation is almost here. Keep your young ones active and play some games.

Entertain and educate your preschoolers by playing games! According to the team at www.kaboose.com, playing games increases mind and body fitness, helps build skills in all areas of development, and most of all — is fun! Research has shown that playing games in early childhood yields significant increases on school readiness skills.

Young children learn to follow directions and take turns. Their communication skills strengthen by discussing strategies, negotiating rules, and learning new vocabulary. Young children will learn new concepts while playing games, such as visual discrimination, classification, matching, and recall skills — important skills for future success in math and reading. While playing games, children are also using their small muscles to spin, roll, move cards, or hold playing pieces. Fine motor skills are important as children transition from preschool to Kindergarten and continue to write, cut and create art.

Engage The Mind and Prevent Summer Learning Loss According to the ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development), research shows that all students fall behind academically during the summer months. Kids lose an average of 2.6 months of grade-level equivalency in procedural and factual knowledge, such as math and spelling. When parents provide learning experiences over the summer, their children have the advantage of basic skills practice and return to school in the fall ready to learn. For more information visit www.ascd.org

Crecer Juntos addresses the need of preventing summer learning loss and is proud to open a Language Learning Center at Colegio Puerto Aventuras in July 2010 and the new 2010-2011 school year.  The LLC will provide opportunities for Colegio Puerto Aventuras students to receive high quality, academic support in a small group setting during the vacation months of July and August.  These students will continue to find academic support as the school year begins.

The LLC will provide individual support to students on site during the academic school day by:

  • Remediating in areas of language, math, and science.
  • Increasing organizational skills, such as tracking assignments and correlating materials, designating a study time and place, and prioritizing studies.
  • Developing study skills to read assignments and take class notes, review highlighted information and improve memorization skills, and take tests.
  • Monitoring daily homework, long-term projects and test preparation.

Crecer Juntos Language Learning Center offers students individualized learning programs, at the convenience of location and schedule, and has been successful in helping students meet their specific learning needs in a positive and proactive way.
