As Ak Lu'um plans to open its doors for their first school year in Playa del Carmen the community shows their support.
We give a brief presentation covering aspects of our philosophy, methodology and day-to-day school routines. We field a wide variety of questions, from first-aid preparedness to compost-making, organic school lunches and special needs integration. The evening ends on an up note, as parents prepare to leave while their children clamor to stay a little longer...The first Parent-Teacher get together at Ak Lu'um has been a success. Nonetheless, there is still plenty to do, including the planning for our two weeks of professional development. Gaby, currently training as a Waldorf Pre-school teacher at the Anthroposophy Centre in Cuernavaca will be working closely with all staff raising our Waldorf awareness. Siobhan plans to complete her first International Baccalaureate workshop before Christmas and our teaching assistant will be aiming for Pre-school Teaching Certification during this academic year.
Thank you to our guardian angels and staunch supporters for moral sustenance and physical donations. We are still in need of a few things so when you do your Spring cleaning save the following for Ak Lu'um:
Please don't miss our next open house on Saturday August 26th at 12:00 PM We look forward to seeing all of you there.
