Carnaval (Mardi Gras) starts on the 9th, and ends with the final day of the parade on the 16th. Because of local elections and no drinking laws, city officials -much to the disliking of the church-, have moved it back a week. We hope the new streets are ready in time! Sidewalks have been enlarged and given facelifts of patterns and waves while the new concrete streets themselves have been leveled and stamped with a tribute to Cozumel’s island bird: the swallow. The new sidewalks will provide visitors more fluidity and security while walking. In addition, there have been pedestrian crossings added and street corners are now wheel chair accessible. The wall of the beach front street has been cleared of many layers of paint by a high pressure cleaner. A new coat of paint, as well as a layer of protective material has been added which, according to the Public Works director, will last a long time.New Listings: Casa Tony--$199,500 Located in Corpus Christi neighborhood, on Av 15 "C" between streets 21 and 23.
