Petit Marrakesh is a new French Moroccan restaurant located on Calle Corazon in downtown Playa del Carmen. With an eclectic menu that will be sure to make your taste buds stand to attention I certainly think it is worthy of checking out. Moroccan born owner Rasheed, has been living in Mexico for the past 11 years, but has just been here in Playa del Carmen for the past 4 months. He comes to our community from Veracruz where he had a similar restaurant for many years. He seems truly passionate about his food and offers his culinary concoctions for your creative criticism.....

In England the name George and Dragon is often used as names for pubs, inns, and the like to reflect the history of their long time legendary hero. We now have our very own George and Dragon Pub right here in Playa del Carmen. This past Saturday was their grand opening and it was a definite success.

Hola Asia in Puerto Morelos is a real treat for the Asian food lover. Although Hola Asia is entering its sixth season in Puerto Morelos, and I have enjoyed dining there many times, I finally remembered my pen and paper the last time we visited. Every once in awhile a small group of us like to head up to Puerto Morelos and say hi to Rob and Joanne at the Alma Libre Bookstore, buy a book or two, and eat at Hola Asia. Hola Asia has a variety of delicious dishes from Chinese, Japanese, and Thai recipes that use fresh ingredients, crisp vegetables, and choice meats. They have an eclectic, varying menu, and will certainly have something for everyone.

Hole in the Wall Deli and Bar opens in Playa del Carmen. Three years ago Karen Lange, long time Playa del Carmen resident, opened a deli, a real deli with pickles, pasta salads, potato salads, bagels, and killer sandwiches, down in Puerto Aventuras. Web Guy and I would make a special trip down to Puerto Aventuras just to get our Reuben or Italian sandwich fix. Occasionally we would even phone Karen to see when she was coming north so we could get a "home delivery" Unfortunately she was forced to close down less then a year after opening her doors. To say the least we were not only sad for her, but what about the food?

CLOSED A great new addition to the Northern part of 5th Avenue! Looking for a nice café to enjoy a delicious sandwich or coffee? Playa del Carmen has been lacking a specialty delicatessen, and we now have a place to go! Il Mangiare is a new delicatessen that just opened last week. It offers a variety of baguette sandwiches, bagels, salads, coffees, and hard to find specialty items, such as pickles, pastas, sauces, and more. Right across from Café Corazon and neighboring Puro Bueno (you know, the “red” bar with the infused vodkas), Il Mangiare is a great new addition to the exploding growth just north of Constituyentes on 5th Avenue......

By: Evelyne Bevacqua Well... The opening of La Fe saw many locals coming for free drinks! It is located adjacent to Il Baretto, and across of Hora Feliz .This info would have been great to find "La Fe" as yours truly arrived before 9:00 and it just happened they do not have their sign up yet! By 9:00 well, the opening night started, and then you couldn’t have missed them as a joyous and black clad crowd celebrated the first step of LA FE into Fifth Avenue..

Burgers, Shakes, and Elvis Presley – in Playa del Carmen? You betcha!!!! Good Golly Miss Molly! By J.P. the Writer Johnny Rockets has come to Playa del Carmen and is already one of the most popular restaurants to eat at the Paseo del Carmen on the South side of town. I’ve eaten there twice already and was impressed both times. The manager, Juan Jose Loa, made me feel right at home and the servers have happy smiles.

CLOSED Have a Japanese restaurant in Playa del Carmen? Why not? Yes, we actually have a few Japanese restaurants, but this one is new and just seemed to pop up on 30th Ave. It is called Koma Sushi. So being of a curious and usually hungry nature let’s go there for dinner and don’t tell them you are going to review them so that you really see what kind of service and food you get. The food was excellent and the service interesting .................
