The Sixth Annual Bomberos Academy kicks off Monday, March 19th in Playa del Carmen.

If you can't wait until Monday to get involved, there is fun to be had by all this weekend in town. Sign up as a team in the three-legged race, or just come as a spectator to cheer on your favorite team. Looking for something more laid back? Come to the beach potluck to welcome the firefighters from the US on Sunday. It is time for the Bomberos' State Academy VI from Mar. 19 thru 24th. Anyone is welcome to stop by anytime during the academy to see what we are doing. Make sure to stop by Saturday, March 24th at 1 PM to see the State Finals of the Combat Challenge Fireman's Ironman Competition. This competition is held at an International level, and our own Playa Bomberos have been the state champions for the last 4 years. Let' see if we can do it again! On the evening of Saturday, March 17th at 8:00 PM, the three legged race will be held. The event is being hosted by Keith at Captain Dave's bar on 10th Avenue. Participants in the event will rush to the following bars and have one drink at each bar:

• Captain Dave's on 10th
• Mannies
• Casa Tucan
• Bad Boys (on the beach)
• The Beer Bucket
• La Rana Cansada
• DJ's Bar
• And the final drink upon return at Captain Dave's

Sunday Afternoon we will welcome the thirteen U.S.A. Fire Fighter instructors at Capt. Dave's on the beach Bad Boys Bar with a Pot Luck dinner starting at 5:00 PM. Bring a dish or throw some money in the pot.

I don't know what to say except thank you to all that came Wed. the 14th of March to the Cuisine Festival - Gastronomica en el Bosque de Aluxes. The organizer of the event, Revista La Quinta, produced this very professional and delicious event and our State Academy will profit over 20,000 pesos from it! With this alone we should be very close to having enough funds for the Academy.

If any one has a deal on an eight, or even better yet, a ten person van, we would be interested in renting it from Monday, March 19th to the evening of March 23rd. We need it to transport Instructors to and from the Cancun air port.
