What does the future hold? Here is what is in the works – it is going to be very busy the next few months! If anyone has ideas to help out they want to hear from you…… Let’s unite as a community and help together for the benefit of all. MSU is coming in Oct to scout out 2005’s mission to help children and their families that are in need of surgeries. It looks like there are 4 confirmed surgeons - Dr. Smith, Dr. Livingston and two others. They will bring their own surgical team and recovery team to do the surgeries. This will happen in the spring of 2005. It will be lots of planning. If anyone has ideas about raising fund for this project please contact Angel Notion. There is more............ Hearth of friendship will be arriving in December to plan trips for various future missions. They want to partner with us in a community sense. They have offered to bring several groups down to help the Nic te Clinic on several fronts. - Community interchange, families staying with families to learning new cultures and new friendships on a worldly sense. - Bringing people from the University of Chinese Medicine for teaching those who are interested in herbal medicines and acupuncture and treating community members by consultation. - A team of carpenters to build the centers play structure and to also build the area for meditation for the elders with a waterfall and fire pit for telling stories and campfires and areas for seating, a te mescal for those who prefer to heal in a sweat lodge (chiapian people). - The school of Art therapy is choosing to participate in teaching teachers how to read art in expression and art used for therapy. All this to be planned by may 2005 Clara who is a psychologist, is planning a mission in November 04. She will come and encourage counseling for those families who are transient to the community (which is just about everyone if you think about it). There are certain problems that exist in a transient town for school children, drop outs, not fitting in, changing homes and areas. We will work with the local high school Bachieres in gathering some of these families together to see if we can relieve them of some of their worries and fears. Rotary Club of Playa del Carmen is asking us to work with them in the ejido (across the highway). Help in creating a center for medical equipment. They have asked us to be a part of the center in getting the equipment that they want to purchase. Does anyone know of another Rotary Club or group that may be interested in partnering up with them?

Playa’s angel group
Dr. Grant from Michigan an orthopedist will be coming in November to assess the needs of the orthopedic area. He and his team are willing to come here in the spring 2005 and put together a workshop for orthopedics. We have an orthopedist in the clinic and have fitted more than 1000 special shoes, 80 pairs of braces, knee braces, you name it but the only workshop for the orthopedist to work in is Merida so, they are going to help us build what we need and send legs, arms and used shoes and braces for us to adjust to fit the need of a person here.
