Raffle night at PG's Bar to benefit Ak Lu'um International School .

Ak Lu'um International School is the only non-profit school in the Riviera Maya, and needs the community support to continue their important role in educating the youth of our community.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Ak Lu'um International School, and their teaching philosophy, their goal is to create and nurture:

• A non-profit, quality primary school with a strong inclusion program to cater to children with special learning needs where academic subjects are taught through the arts and in a creative, meaningful way.
• An educational community that can offer a substantial scholarship program to integrate deprived migrant and well-off local children and where teachers, children and parents can support and educate each other.
• A self-sustainable school where all members of the community can learn about and develop ecological strategies for the future.

At Ak Lu'um they aim to encourage open-mindedness, multi-culturalism, inquiring minds, ethical attitudes and creativity. Their philosophy is humanistic. Their methodology is child-centered and inquiry-based. The Arts are the main teaching medium. They look to being a crucial part of a big picture and sow the seeds of positive, independent and compassionate attitudes in life.
