Grand opening of the first recycling center in Tulum
The first recycling center for plastics recently
opened in Tulum with a fun and educational inauguration party.
The community of Tulum was invited to the
party to enjoy some food, music and a welcome drink, as well as taking part by
bringing a plastic bottle to deposit in the center.
The inauguration was a great success with
approximately one hundred people attending the event and getting to know the
new recycling center and its process, which will aid Tulum to grow in a more
sustainable manner.
The people of Tulum
and nearby areas are invited to drop off all their plastic bottles at the
recycling center.....
Come on out and have a cold beer, or shot of Jaegermeister, at Pinche Gringo's in Playa del Carmen, and help some local women.

One of the greatest things about moving to another country is the chance
to make friends with people of another place and another culture. We
have been particularly blessed by meeting some really wonderful people
since moving to Playa del Carmen. Two of those people are sisters Mayte
and Alex. Not only are they some of the sweetest people around, but
they are some of the hardest working, which is suprising when you
know that Mayte is 23 and Alex is only 19.

Sixth Annual
Bomberos Academy and Fundraiser a Success!
The sixth
annual Bomberos Academy wrapped up over the weekend, and
it was quite a week for everyone involved. First to kick off the weeks events
was the 3-legged bar hop. Teams of 2 solicited sponsors to raise funds to
donate to the Bomberos in Playa del Carmen. They were then tied together and
had to run to 7 different bars, Manne's
Biergarten, Casa Tucan, Bad Boys, Beer Bucket, Bar Ranita, and
DJ's Bar, and either have a shot
or a beer. To say the least once they arrived back at Keith’s Bar on 10th Avenue
everyone was in the partying mood! The next day there was a welcoming potluck at
Bad Boy’s on the beach for the 13 firefighters who came down from Colorado, California,
and New York
to train our local company. Thank you! You guys are amazing!
Puerto Morelos is resisting incoming developmet of larger all-inclusive resorts and franchises.
We recently recieved a survey from the owners of Alma Libre Bookstore in Puerto Morelos. The survey is being passed arround to both residents and visitors who would like to see Puerto Morelos stay as it is; a tranquil beach town unencumbered by large development and exponential growth. If you would like to get involved please fill out the survey below and return it, by e-mail, by the 22nd of March.
