12:45pm Tuesday Electricity and Phones are getting back online Electricity and Phones are reported back on in some parts of Playa del Carmen. Internet access is intermittent. Expect it to go on and off as they make the adjustments. 5th Avenue in the heart of Playa del Carmen reports minor damage to small stores. Resorts faired very well. No major damages reported! We have awesome hotels here. Most of the damages are in the city to small stores with broken glass, bent signs....basically it looks horrible because the all of the signs all over the place. On the road from Tulum to Playa del Carmen, turned over trucks, loose cables from downed poles. Two Pemex gas stations in the corridor are in terrible shape........ For those traveling, give your resorts a call now. If you cannot get through try thoughout the day. You should be able to get through soon. SOME NOTES FROM A READER AND EMAILER Thanks J.P. Our travel agent just found out that the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort will be hiring 1700 people to make repairs. Apparently, there was water damage but no property damage. They expect everything to be ready by late Thursday.David=========================================================================
